A quieter kind of dental practice

Brightline opened in 2011 with one rule that has not changed since: nobody gets treated before they understand what is happening and what it costs.

Why we started

Most people are not afraid of dentists

They are afraid of not knowing. Not knowing what is being done, not knowing how long it will hurt, and above all not knowing what it will cost until the receptionist reads out a number at the end.

Dr. Vessa Quorlin opened Brightline after fourteen years in practices that all worked the other way round. The whole model here is built to remove that uncertainty: images on a screen you can see, plans written down, prices given before consent, and never a decision asked for while you are still in the chair.

It is slower. It also means about half our new patients arrive because someone they know told them to.

How we work

Four commitments, and what they cost us

No treatment without a written plan

Even for a filling. It slows the day down and it removes any argument later.

No sales targets

Clinicians here are salaried. Nobody earns more by recommending more.

We keep slots empty

Four emergency slots a day stay unbooked. Some days they go unused, which is expensive and fine.

We refer out often

Complex surgical and paediatric work goes to specialists we trust. We lose the revenue.

The team

Six people, one building, no rotating locums

You will see the same clinician each visit unless you ask otherwise. Continuity matters more in dentistry than most people realise.

The building

Built to feel like a waiting room you do not mind

Four surgeries, daylight in every one, and a waiting area with actual chairs rather than a row of plastic seats. There is no television playing procedure videos.

Street parking on NW Marshall is metered but usually available; the 77 bus stops two minutes away. Step-free access throughout, and a ground-floor surgery for anyone who needs it.
